Batman 496 Joker Batman Fight

Batman Vs Joker In Batman #496

One of my personal favorite Batman Story Arcs from Pre-2000 is Knightfall, and while I plan to take an issue-by-issue look at the series later for now I'm looking at a specific scene in Batman Issue 496 which is Part 9 of the 19-Part series.

The scene takes place after a brief scuffle with Scarecrow leads to The Dark Knight being sprayed with some of the fear toxin Crane is so well known for creating, and, batman still a bit raw from the events of "Death In The Family " Wherein the second robin (Jason Todd) was killed by the Joker, experiences a flashback to that time.  And since the Joker was there due to the fact that he has made an alliance with the Scarecrow Batman uses him like a punching bag in his Fear/Anger induced meltdown as seen below.

This is an extremely tense and dramatic scene in the comics, and can really lay to rest what some say about not even Batman caring for Jason, and given the chance in this scene, would probably of been unable to control himself enough to not kill the Clown Prince Of Crime. Overall the sound FX, the narration repeating the phrase "just a boy" and the wonderful artwork lends to create an great scene and is part of why I love the series so much.
